Suann A. Strickland (Collaborative Pianist and Assistant Director)

Suann StricklandSuann is a pianist, music director, and early childhood music specialist. She holds bachelors degrees in sociology and music as well a master's of performance in piano, a World Music Certificate, and graduate training in choral conducting from Florida State University.  She has directed early childhood keyboard music programs for colleges and piano stores and written two books showing parents how to teach learning skills to children using music.  She has taught on the faculty of several Georgia colleges. She also taught the Rockefeller Foundation-course How To Play Piano Despite Years of Lessons around the US to over 500 adults who wished their moms hadn’t let them quit.

Suann has performed regularly in solo and collaborative recitals, including as a concerto competition winner with the Raleigh Symphony, has been musical director/conductor for over 60 theatre productions, and worked with school, church and community choirs.  In 1991 she performed in Russia and Estonia with International Arts For Peace.   In 2002, one of her vocal art song compositions was debuted in the MeredithCollege Festival of Women Composers.  She and her husband formed the duo, Brass and Ivory, to explore performance of vocal art song for trombone and piano.

Having held a lifelong dream to study languages and music in Europe, Suann is thrilled to be part of the Rheinland-Pfalz International Choir.   When she is not pinching herself to make sure she really is in Germany, she enjoys life with her husband, Charles Anderson, trombonist with the USAFE Band, and their daughter, Francesca Juliana.
