Dr. Patrick F. Casey (Music Director)
Patrick began his work as the vocal and instrumental music teacher at Baumholder Middle High School, US Army Garrison, Baumholder, in August 2008. In October of that year he began his association with the Rheinland-Pfalz International Choir.
His return to vocal music and secondary school teaching follows over two decades of teaching instrumental music in American higher education, with the most recent post being as Visiting Associate Professor at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in 2007-2008. In Indiana, Dr. Casey conducted the Symphonic Band, taught graduate wind conducting and related courses. That visiting year in Indiana came on the heels of a three-year term at Virginia Tech, serving on faculty there from August 2004 through July 2007. While there, Patrick conducted the University Symphonic Wind Ensemble, the University Chamber Winds, and taught applied conducting.
Under his leadership at Virginia Tech, the University Symphonic Wind Ensemble performed at the Virginia Music Educators Conference and the Chamber Winds received high praise for their work both on and off campus. Similarly, while serving as Director of Bands at the University of Central Missouri (1996-2004), Casey led their top concert band to perform each year of eligibility at the Missouri Music Educators Conference.
Prior to the Central Missouri years, Patrick held similar posts in music education and bands at Oregon State University, the University of Oregon, the Ohio State University, and the University of Dayton. His formal education includes degrees in music education and conducting from The Ohio State University, Northwestern University, and Arkansas Tech University. Patrick is currently President-elect of the European Music Educators Association, and is a member of the trombone section of the Sinfonieorchester des Landkreises Kaiserslautern.
A frequent choral singer as well, Patrick is enjoying the adventures of planning for and conducting the Rheinland-Pfalz International Choir!
